Growing up I was never taught the importance of exercise and eating right. I struggled with my weight for most of my adult life. It wasn’t until I had my first child and my weight reached 200lbs at 5 feet tall and wearing a size 16 pants did I finally decide to change my lifestyle. At first I did home workouts, personal training, boot camps and constant dieting. At one point, my weight dropped to 100lbs but I also spiraled into an eating disorder. I was skinny, but I was also weak and unhealthy.
After having my second baby, I decided to join Crossfit Provoke to help me lose the baby weight. It was then did I start to completely change how I view food and exercise. Garrick taught me how to properly fuel my body to gain and maintain muscle mass and lose fat, while getting stronger in the process. I never considered myself as an athlete before I joined crossfit. But today I am able to run faster and longer, lift heavier, do handstands, rope climbs and other things I was never able to do before in my entire life. Today I’m in the best shape of my life and I’m honestly still having fun doing it after 6 years.
